The idea of creating WILDCONSCIENCE was generated by the end of 2014 and the company was legally incorporated on the Island of Bonaire on November 28th of that same year. The modifications we propose do not hamper the goals of the projects, however they create opportunity for habitat restoration and improvement in very simple and non-costly ways that are already included in the projects. In this way, we can easily start compensating our nature and our future generations for more than two centuries of non-sustainable extraction of our natural resources, habitat loss, habitat fragmentation and desertification. This project was designed and implemented in 2012 by Dr. Jafet Nassar (IVIC, Venezuela) and Fernando Simal while working for STINAPA Bonaire. We started with the phenology of candle cacti and agave plants only, as this is the main source of food for our 2 keystone species of nectar-feeding bats, but soon added more than 20 species of native trees to the project.
